This section is for participants — surfers, travelers, and wellness seekers booking through SURFKIN.
It covers getting started, booking sessions, payments, refunds, and safety.
Getting Started
How do I create a SURFKIN account?
Visit the SURFKIN website or app and click Sign Up. Choose whether you’re joining as a participant or service provider, then follow the steps to enter your details, verify your identity, and accept the terms. You’ll be guided through profile setup and onboarding.
What types of services can I book on SURFKIN?
SURFKIN connects users with a wide range of ocean-based services, including:
- Private and group surf coaching
- Videography and surf media sessions
- Local surf buddy meet-ups
- Club or event participation
- Wellness services such as surf therapy or surf fitness/stretching
Each listing includes session details, availability, pricing, and provider profiles before you book.
How do I find surf coaches or local surf buddies near me?
Use the map-based search or apply filters (location, date, service type, or experience level). Browse provider profiles, check reviews, and book directly from their listing.
Is SURFKIN available in my location?
SURFKIN is expanding across coastal regions worldwide. If services aren’t yet available in your area, you can request alerts or join the waitlist. Providers in new locations are always welcome to join.
Booking & Sessions
How do I book a session?
Once you’ve found a provider, choose your preferred date and time. Tap Book Session, confirm your details, and complete secure payment. You’ll receive instant confirmation by email and in-app notification.
Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?
Yes. Go to My Bookings, select your session, and choose Reschedule or Cancel.
Note: Each provider sets their own cancellation and refund policy, which will be displayed clearly at checkout.
What happens if my coach cancels due to weather?
If conditions are unsafe, your provider will contact you through in-app messaging and suggest alternatives. You won’t be charged unless a rescheduled session is confirmed.
How do I check my session location?
Your booking confirmation includes full location details. You can also view them anytime under Upcoming Sessions. Some providers include maps or meeting-point directions.
Can I join group sessions or only private ones?
Both are available. Providers may offer one-on-one lessons or group classes. Group sizes vary, and you can filter your search to match your preference.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
Not always. Some providers include surfboards, wetsuits, or other gear, while others expect you to bring your own. Equipment details are listed on each provider’s page.
What if I’m a total beginner?
Absolutely. Many providers offer beginner-friendly lessons. Look for listings marked Beginner Surfing to ensure the session matches your skill level.
Payments & Refunds
How do I pay for sessions?
All payments are made securely through SURFKIN at the time of booking. We accept major credit/debit cards, and in some regions, mobile wallets.
Is my payment secure?
Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe, a secure, encrypted gateway. SURFKIN does not store card details.
What is SURFKIN’s refund policy?
Refunds are based on the provider’s cancellation policy, displayed before booking. If a provider cancels or does not deliver the service, you may be eligible for a full refund.
Can I use promo codes or vouchers?
Yes. If you have a valid code, apply it at checkout. Codes may be restricted by provider, service, or date.
Safety & Insurance
Am I insured as a participant?
Not automatically. Some providers’ insurance covers participants during sessions. Optional personal surf insurance may also be available at checkout through third-party partners.
Can I add personal surf insurance at checkout?
Yes. Where available, you’ll see an “Add Surf Insurance” option during booking, handled by an external partner.
What safety measures are required for coaches?
Providers must maintain current qualifications, insurance, and local permits. They are expected to follow best practices for safety.
Do surf buddies need insurance?
No. However, participants booking peer-to-peer surf buddy sessions must accept a liability disclaimer at checkout.
Service Provider FAQ
This section is for providers — surf coaches, schools, rental shops, retreat organizers, videographers, and wellness professionals.
It covers becoming a provider, payouts, fees, managing listings, and advanced questions.
Becoming a Provider
How do I become a service provider?
Select Join as a Provider during sign-up. You’ll complete onboarding by adding your credentials, services, pricing, availability, and confirming insurance (where required).
What credentials are required?
- Relevant surf coaching certifications or qualifications
- Local permits (if required by your area)
- Valid insurance (public liability, professional indemnity, etc.)
Providers are responsible for keeping credentials current. SURFKIN does not track expirations.
Do I need insurance?
Yes. All providers must hold appropriate insurance. Uploading certificates is optional, but a declaration is required during onboarding.
Can I pause or deactivate my profile?
Yes. Providers can temporarily pause their listings without deleting their account. This ensures you don’t receive bookings when you’re unavailable.
Payments & Payouts
How do payouts work on SURFKIN?
SURFKIN uses Stripe to handle all payments securely.
- Providers set up a quick Stripe Connect account (linked to your bank).
- SURFKIN charges a 3.8% commission, which also covers all Stripe processing fees.
- Your earnings (minus commission) are paid directly to your bank after each booking.
Do I need my own Stripe account?
No — you don’t need to create a separate Stripe account.
When you join SURFKIN as a provider, you’ll go through a quick Stripe Connect setup.
This creates a connected account under SURFKIN so Stripe can verify your identity and send payouts straight to your bank.
How are payouts made to providers?
Payouts are handled via Stripe Connect. Funds are automatically transferred to your connected bank account, with timing depending on your region (typically 2–7 business days).
Can I list services for free?
To keep transactions secure and fair, payments under $5 are not supported. Free listings remain available.
Managing Listings & Availability
How do I update my availability?
Manage your session times and locations through your Provider Dashboard. You can add, pause, or adjust sessions anytime.
How do I communicate with clients?
All communication must stay within SURFKIN’s in-app messaging system. External promotional emails or texts are not allowed.
Can I edit or remove my listing?
Yes. You can update your listing details (title, description, price, images) anytime. You can also pause or unpublish a listing if you’re not available.
Advanced Provider Questions
I already have my own website and booking platform. Do I need to switch to SURFKIN?
No. SURFKIN is designed to complement your existing business, not replace it. You can keep your website and booking system while using SURFKIN to reach a wider audience. Many providers link their SURFKIN profile directly from their site for extra visibility.
Can I link my SURFKIN profile to my own website or social media?
Yes. You can share your SURFKIN listing link on your website, Instagram, or other channels. This gives surfers the choice of booking directly through SURFKIN, which handles payments, messaging, and scheduling in one place.
How does SURFKIN prevent double-bookings if I use multiple systems?
We recommend keeping your availability updated in SURFKIN to avoid clashes. If you already use an external booking calendar, you can manually sync availability. Future updates will include calendar integration options to streamline this process.
Does SURFKIN replace my booking system?
Not necessarily. Some providers use SURFKIN as their main booking tool, while others treat it as an additional marketing channel to attract new clients. You decide what works best for your business.
Can I export client data from SURFKIN?
For privacy reasons, SURFKIN doesn’t allow bulk export of client data. However, you can see your booking history, client messages, and reviews in your provider dashboard at any time.
How can I keep my branding consistent if I’m listed on SURFKIN?
You can add a professional profile photo, description, and links to your external website or socials. Many providers use SURFKIN as their “marketplace storefront” and keep deeper branding on their own sites.

Technical Support
I’m having trouble logging in—what should I do?
Reset your password from the login page. If issues persist, contact support through the app or at support@surfkin.com.
Why can’t I upload documents?
Ensure your file is in PDF, JPG, or PNG format and under the size limit. Contact support if issues continue.
How do I update my profile or bio?
Go to My Profile > Edit to update your photo, description, services, and availability.
Why isn’t the map showing results?
Check your filters (location, date, category). If no providers match, expand your search radius or adjust filters.
Platform Policies
What are the community guidelines?
Be respectful, stay professional, and prioritize safety. Harassment, unsafe practices, or policy violations can result in suspension.
Are there age restrictions?
Yes. Users must be at least 16 to book solo sessions. Younger surfers require a parent/guardian to book and must attend sessions marked suitable for minors.
How does SURFKIN protect my data?
We use encrypted servers and secure systems. Personal details are never sold or shared. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Can my account be suspended?
Yes. Accounts may be restricted for unsafe behavior, unlicensed services, spam, or violations of terms. Users will be notified and may appeal.
Marketing & Reviews
How do I request a review?
After a session, send a polite in-app follow-up using approved templates. Reviews help providers grow and guide future surfers.
Can I promote my services?
Yes. Use your own website, email, or social media. Do not send promotional messages through SURFKIN’s platform.
What’s the best way to grow my bookings?

Can I be featured as a top provider?
Yes. High-rated, active providers may be highlighted on the homepage or social media.
Admin & Oversight
Does SURFKIN monitor messages?
Messages aren’t actively monitored but may be reviewed if flagged for inappropriate content or disputes.
Can admins access my messages?
Only for moderation, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
How are disputes handled?
Submit a support request. SURFKIN reviews both sides, checks records, and may issue refunds or take account actions.
How do I report unsafe behavior or content?
Use the Report button in the app or contact support. Reports are confidential and reviewed promptly.
General
Which languages does SURFKIN support?
SURFKIN is built on a platform that supports multiple languages. Currently, the interface is available in English. Additional language support may be added in the future based on community demand.
Does SURFKIN take a commission?
Yes. SURFKIN charges a 3.8% per-booking fee, which covers secure Stripe payment processing and platform hosting.
There are no hidden commissions or monthly fees.
